H control in the frequency domain for a semi-active floor isolation system

摘要: A floor isolation system installed in a single floor or room in a fixed base structure is designed to protect equipment. With this configuration, the input motions to the floor isolation from the ground motions are filtered by the structure, leaving the majority of the frequency content of the input motion lower than the predominant frequency of the structure. The floor isolation system should minimize the acceleration to protect equipment; however, displacement must also be limited to save floor space, especially with long period motion. Semi-active control with an control was adopted for the floor isolation system and a new input shaping filter was developed to account for the input motion characteristics and enhance the effectiveness of the control. A series of shake table tests for a semi-active floor isolation system using rolling pendulum isolators and a magnetic-rheological damper were performed to validate the control. Passive control using an oil damper was also tested for comparison. The test results show that the control effectively reduced acceleration for short period motions with frequencies close to the predominant frequency of the structure, as well as effectively reduced displacement for long period motions with frequencies close to the natural frequency of the floor isolation system. The control algorithm proved to be more advantageous than passive control because of its capacity to adjust control strategies according to the different motion frequency characteristics.

Operating characteristic analysis on the ultra-thin low temperature floor-heating system

摘要: Prefabricated ultra-thin radiant heating panel, as a new heating terminal type, is becoming a highlight in Yangtze River Valley area, China recently. However, there is a lack of operating characteristic research in this region, especially the energy consumption and operating mode are even less. To obtain these data, a heating system was set up in a duplex house in Chongqing. The test results show that the floor heating system could almost satisfy thermal comfort requirement at supply water temperature 45°C. But the preheating time was up to 4.5 h which was 1 h longer than that at supply water temperature 50°C. Meanwhile, the energy consumption at supply water temperature 50°C increased 0.10 Nm /h, and the operating efficiency decrease about 2.6% compared to those at water temperature 45°C. Considering both the thermal lag and operating efficiency, a reasonable suggestion was proposed in this paper. That was, the standard families which just stay home at night should adopt the interim mode of partial room with part time. And the supply water temperature should be properly raised during the preheating period and lowered down in the steady heating stage.

Can floor-area-ratio incentive promote low impact development in a highly urbanized area?

摘要: As an environmental friendly measure for surface runoff reduction, low impact development (LID) has been applied successfully in urban areas. However, due to high price of land and additional expense for LID construction in highly urbanized areas, the developers of real estate would not like to proceed LID exploitation. Floor area ratio (FAR) refers to “the ratio of a building’s total floor area to the size of the piece of land upon which it is built.” Increasing FAR indicates that the developers can construct higher buildings and earn more money. By means of awarding FAR, the developers may be willing to practice LID construction. In this study, a new residential district is selected as a case study to analyze the trade-off between the runoff reduction goal achieving by LID practices and the incentive of awarding FAR to promote LID construction. The System for Urban Stormwater Treatment and Analysis IntegratioN (SUSTAIN) model is applied to simulate the runoff reduction under various LID designs and then derive the Pareto-optimal solutions to achieve urban runoff reduction goals based on cost efficiency. The results indicates that the maximum surface runoff reduction is 20.5%. Under the extremity scenarios, the government has options to award FAR of 0.028, 0.038 and 0.047 and the net benefits developers gain are 0 CNY, one million CNY and two million CNY, respectively. The results provide a LID construction guideline related to awarding FAR, which supports incentive policy making for promoting LID practices in the highly urbanized areas.

潜运沉管建闸适用在航运发达的顺直河道上建设水工建筑物。闸位取在原来航道上,闸室和闸门口径可以与航道等宽,运行期不碍航;闸室的钢筋混凝土的浇筑,预埋、闸门和启闭设备的安装和调试等都可在预制场内完成;预制场灌水后,确定闸身潜运时的有效质量和底板底高程,使潜运及在航道内的定位工作十分简便;可以水上拆装和动水开关闸门;施工风险小,施工期短,临时工程少,工程造价省。

全尺寸复合楼板的试验 Article

为了研究楼板在复合梁的格栅中的弯曲性能以及面内效应,我们对一种全尺寸复合楼板进行了试验,以降低混凝土板沿主梁线纵向开裂的趋势。在钢板定向平行于梁却不并排放置的情况下,这样的改变非常重要。在这种情况下,重要的是证明从剪切连接件中传递的局部力,以及与欧洲规范4 相比,其所需的横向钢筋量有所减少。研究机制涉及混凝土板产生的面内压缩力,这是由于楼板受到外围的复合梁支撑产生了约束作用;而次梁作为横向纽带用于抵抗楼板中的作用力,否则会导致混凝土板沿主梁线分裂。我们对主梁中心线及外围梁的开裂趋势进行了精密测试,这是自20世纪90年代初卡丁顿试验以来,在实验室条件下进行的第一次大型楼板试验,虽说卡丁顿试验并没有失败。这次楼板试验的目的是即使主梁传递的纵向力相对较高(即设计为全剪切连接件),但混凝土面层中钢筋最小配筋率仅为0.2%。该试验证实,尽管在钢板不连续,以及使用欧洲规范4中规定的横向分布钢筋最小配筋率的情况下,主梁仍然达到了其塑性抗弯性能。在此基础上,我们提出了无 U 形钢筋(U-bars)的边梁剪切连接件的折减系数。

Innovative seismic retrofitting strategy of added stories isolation system

摘要: The seismic performance of “added stories isolation” (ASI) systems are investigated for 12-story moment resisting frames. The newly added and isolated upper stories on the top of the existing structure are rolled to act as a large tuned mass damper (TMD) to overcome the limitation of the size of tuned mass, resulting to “12+2” and “12+4” stories building configurations. The isolation layer, as a core design strategy, is optimally designed based on optimal TMD design principle, entailing the insertion of passive flexible laminated rubber bearings to segregate two or four upper stories from a conventionally constructed lower superstructure system. Statistical performance metrics are presented for 30 earthquake records from the 3 suites of the SAC project. Time history analyses are used to compute various response performances and reduction factors across a wide range of seismic hazard intensities. Results show that ASI systems can effectively manage seismic response for multi-degree-of freedom (MDOF) systems across a broader range of ground motions without requiring burdensome extra mass. Specific results include the identification of differences in the number of added story by which the suggested isolation systems remove energy.

Isolation and application of predatory

摘要: Indigenous predatory BALO strains were successfully isolated from activated sludge. Sludge SRF and CST were significantly reduced by BALOs induced biolysis process. The increase of BALO input dosage promoted the sludge biolysis efficiency. Sludge biolysis disintegrated flocs and lysed cells for internal water release. The optimal sludge biolysis time was 24 h and no pH adjustment was needed. -and-like organisms (BALOs) are a group of ubiquitous and obligate predatory bacteria and commonly used as biocontrol agents. In this study, an efficient, environmental-friendly, and convenient BALOs encouraged municipal waste sludge biolysis pretreatment technique was developed and investigated for dewaterability enhancement of excess waste sludge. The indigenous predatory BALOs were successfully isolated from the sludge for biolysis treatment. Without any chemical addition or pH adjustment, the sludge specific resistance (SRF) and capillary suction time (CST) were significantly reduced by as high as 53.4% and 23.8%, respectively within 24 h’s treatment, which would further be lowered with the increase of BALOs input dosage. However, the continuous extension of reaction time would worsen the sludge dewaterability. The decreases of SRF and CST accompanied with the increases of sludge disintegration degree and soluble chemical oxygen demand, nitrogen, and phosphorus concentrations all emphasized the contributions of BALOs’ predation activities to sludge disturbance, cell lysis, and consequently the release of sludge intracellular water to finally effectively improve the sludge dewaterability and disposal efficiency.

Thermal performance of phase change material energy storage floor for active solar water-heating system

摘要: The conventional active solar water-heating floor system contains a big water tank to store energy in the day time for heating at night, which takes much building space and is very heavy. In order to reduce the water tank volume or even cancel the tank, a novel structure of an integrated water pipe floor heating system using shape-stabilized phase change materials (SSPCM) for thermal energy storage was developed and experimentally studied in this paper. The thermal performances of the floors with and without the SSPCM were compared under the intermittent heating condition. The results show that the Energy Storage Ratio (ESR) of the SSPCM floor is much higher than that of the non-SSPCM floor; the SSPCM floor heating system can provide stable heat flux and prevent a large attenuation of the floor surface temperature. Also, the SSPCM floor heating system dampens the indoor temperature swing by about 50% and increases the minimum indoor air temperature by 2°C–3°C under experimental conditions. The SSPCM floor heating system has a potential of making use of the daytime solar energy for heating at night efficiently.

Novel polymorphic EST-based microsatellite marker isolation and characterization from

摘要: Novel simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were developed to evaluate their utility for genetic diversity and breeding studies of and related species. A total of 108 primer pairs were characterized by PCR amplification experiments. Among these, 61 were polymorphic and transferable to other citrus species. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 6, with an average of 2.37 alleles per locus. The expected heterozygosity and observed heterozygosity ranged from 0 to 0.83 and 0 to 1.00, respectively. These novel polymorphic SSR markers will be useful for citrus cultivar identification and evaluation as well as breeding studies.

摘要: A vertical ship lift under earthquake excitation may suffer from a whipping effect due to the sudden change of building lateral stiffness at the top of the ship lift towers. This paper proposes a roof magnetorheological (MR) intelligent isolation system to prevent the seismic whipping effect on machinery structures. Theoretically, the dynamic models of MR damper and the mechanical model of ship lift was established, the inverse neural network controlling algorithm was proposed and the fundamental semi-active control equation for the Three-Gorges ship lift where the MR intelligent isolation system was installed was deduced. Experimentally, the experimental model of the ship lift was given, the vibrating table experiment of the MR intelligent isolation system controlling the whipping effect was carried out and the results of the inverse neural network control strategy and passive isolation strategy were compared. In practical aspect, the large-scale MR damper (500 kN) and a sliding support with limited stiffness were designed and fabricated. It was proven that the MR intelligent isolation system with proper control strategy can greatly reduce the seismic whipping effect on the top workshop of the ship lift and be simple and effective enough to be applied to real engineering structures.

Aseismic smart building isolation systems under multi-level earthquake excitations: Part II, energy-dissipation

摘要: Based on the performance results of the previously suggested smart building isolation systems (1st companion paper), this following study verifies the control effects of the systems from the view point of energy dissipation and damage level metrics. Several different model cases of the strategically isolated multi-story building structures utilizing passive dampers and semi-active resettable devices are analyzed and the energy-based target indices are compared. Performance comparisons are conducted on statistically calculated story/structural hysteretic energy and story/structural damage demands over realistic suites of earthquake ground motion records, representing seismic excitations of specific return period probability. Again, the semi-active solutions show significant promise for applications of resettable device, offering advantages over passive systems in the consistent damage reductions. The specific results of this study include the identification of differences in the mechanisms by which smart building isolation systems remove energy, based on the differences in the devices used. Less variability is also seen for the semi-active isolation systems, indicating an increased robustness.

摘要: Long propagation delay, limited bandwidth, and high bit error rate pose great challenges in media access control (MAC) protocol design for underwater acoustic networks. A MAC protocol called slotted floor acquisition multiple access (slotted-FAMA) suitable for underwater acoustic networks is proposed and analyzed. This FAMA based protocol adds a time slot mechanism to avoid DATA packet collisions. However, slotted-FAMA is not suitable for dense networks since the multiple request-to-send (RTS) attempts problem in dense networks is serious and greatly limits the network throughput. To overcome this drawback, this paper proposes a slotted-FAMA based MAC protocol for underwater acoustic networks, called RC-SFAMA. RC-SFAMA introduces an RTS competition mechanism to keep the network from high frequency of backoff caused by the multiple RTS attempts problem. Via the RTS competition mechanism, useful data transmission can be completed successfully when the situation of multiple RTS attempts occurs. Simulation results show that RC-SFAMA increases the network throughput efficiency as compared with slotted-FAMA, and minimizes the energy consumption.

Aseismic smart building isolation systems under multi-level earthquake excitations: Part I, conceptual

摘要: As a novel structural control strategy, tuned mass damper (TMD) inspired passive and semi-active smart building isolation systems are suggested to reduce structural response and thus mitigate structural damage due to earthquake excitations. The isolated structure’s upper stories can be utilized as a large scaled TMD, and the isolation layer, as a core design point, between the separated upper and lower stories entails the insertion of rubber bearings and (i) viscous dampers (passive) or (ii) resettable devices (semi-active). The seismic performance of the suggested isolation systems are investigated for 12-story reinforced concrete moment resisting frames modeled as “10+ 2” stories and “8+ 4” stories. Passive viscous damper or semi-active resettable devices are parametrically evaluated through the optimal design principle of a large mass ratio TMD. Statistical performance metrics are presented for 30 earthquake records from the three suites of the SAC project. Based on nonlinear structural models, including P-delta effects and modified Takeda hysteresis, the inelastic time history analyses are conducted to compute the seismic performances across a wide range of seismic hazard intensities. Results show that semi-active smart building isolation systems can effectively manage seismic response for multi-degree-of freedom (MDOF) systems across a broader range of ground motions in comparison to uncontrolled case and passive solution.

Isolation, identification and primary application of bacteria from putrid alkaline silica sol

摘要: The putrefaction of alkaline silica sol was investigated in this paper. The total colony numbers in three alkaline silica sol samples were 1.47×10 , 1.25×10 , and 9.45×10 cfu·mL , respectively. The salt- and alkali-tolerant strains were isolated and selected using nutrient agar medium at 2.5% salinity and pH 9.5. Basic morphological, physiological and biochemical tests were conducted to confirm the preliminary characterizations of the strains. Based on API 50 CH test and 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis, the isolated strains were finally identified as sp., sp., and . The survivability of the strains under different conditions such as salinities, acidities and temperatures was also studied. Some suitable methods for degerming, such as product pipe steam sterilization and regular canister cleaning, were proposed. To explore the possibility of isolates in industrial application, their alkaline protease and amylase production abilities were preliminarily studied. Five strains produced alkaline protease, whereas two strains produced alkaline amylase. Thus, understanding of the putrefaction on alkaline silica sol would be beneficial for improving industrial production.
